Environmental awareness is very important to Graphite Materials: we know that industrial production consumes resources. That is why we work every day to find even better sustainability solutions.
In addition to recyclable packaging, energy-saving and ceiling-mounted radiant heaters as hall heating system, 100 percent use of green energy and numerous other measures, there is now a new component of our intelligent environmental management: we are now supporting a campaign by Boxon when buying our big bags.
As an independent partner of Boxon, MyClimate calculates the product carbon footprint for each big bag made. This footprint consists of its entire life cycle and includes the energy consumption during production, scrap and all operational waste, raw materials and materials including their delivery, packaging including shipping, as well as distribution and disposal or recycling.
This calculation shows how much CO2 has to be reduced in order to offset the emissions of carbon dioxide in the production process. For this, Boxon – together with MyClimate – supports an energy climate protection project in Tanzania.
This project reduces tons of CO2 annually by replacing harmful kerosene with solar modules. This gives families with lower incomes and smaller companies in Tanzania an affordable and clean alternative to fossil fuels. Kerosene in particular is not only a burden for the environment and our climate, the use of kerosene lamps can also cause burns or cause eye and respiratory diseases. Children are particularly at risk.
Last year, Boxon customers compensated for a total of 395 tons of CO2. By purchasing our big bags, we are also helping to keep the project going and to optimize the carbon footprint of our supply chain – because every step towards sustainability is important.
