An exciting day for our apprentice Arthur: A team from the internet portal planet-beruf.de visited Graphite Materials to get to know the apprenticeship “cutting machine operator”. The aim was to create an article about this profession on their website.
The website planet-beruf.de is a portal of the Federal Employment Agency, which refers to young people or young adults as well as teachers and parents who deal with the topic of “career choice and application”. The website offers interested parties the opportunity to obtain detailed information about various apprenticeships. In addition, they show detailed daily routines of the respective occupational fields on their page in order to give the young people a deeper insight into various branches of training.
Arthur was allowed to model precisely for such a daily routine. He is in the second year of his apprenticeship as a cutting machine operator at Graphite Materials. His working day usually starts at seven o’clock. After he has put on his work clothes and clarified all the details of the day with his master, he starts with his tasks. These can range from turning, milling and filing to drilling and bending.
This time he presented an exemplary daily routine: first he explained how to work steel on a lathe in our training workshop. Then he showed the milling of a workpiece on the milling machine. Of course, he also explained the necessary protective clothing to our guests. Then he showed the team the long-term project that all apprentices in production are currently working on: an off-road vehicle made up of several components that each apprentice has to manufacture independently and using various work steps.
After that Arthur took the photographer and the editor through our production hall. Arthur set up the CNC machine by using a computer program. He used this machine to manufacture round nuts from graphite rods. Of course, cleaning the machine is also part of the process. So he presented this in detail.
Meanwhile, one of the most important parts of the appointment was happening: Arthur was photographed several times while he was working. The initial nervousness of our apprentice suddenly disappeared when he found himself in his element and was allowed to present his work in detail. The team from planet-beruf.de was also enthusiastic about the commitment and the great performance of our apprentice. For Arthur himself, this was definitely a work day of a different kind, but one that he clearly enjoyed.
